The Kamenjak Public Institution manages protected natural values ​​and the ecological network in the municipality of Medulin. The institution manages two significant landscapes - the Significant Landscape of Gornji Kamenjak and the Significant Landscape of Donji Kamenjak and the Medulin Archipelago, and two forest parks - the Kašteja Forest Park and the Brdo Soline Forest Park near Vinkuran.

The institution also manages six areas of the ecological network (Natura 2000) that are territorially located in the municipality of Medulin, and are important for the conservation of species and habitat types, as well as for the conservation of birds.

The institution's main activities are the protection, maintenance, preservation, promotion and use of protected areas. The main goal of the institution is to enable the undisturbed development of natural processes in the area of ​​endangered terrestrial and marine habitats in the municipality of Medulin. In addition, one of the key activities is to supervise the implementation of the conditions and measures for nature protection, so that all activities in protected areas are carried out in accordance with the principles of sustainable use of nature.
