The public institution "Natura Histrica" ​​carries out the activity of protection, maintenance and promotion of protected areas and other natural values ​​of the Istrian County, including the areas of the Natura 2000 ecological network. In order to protect and preserve the originality of nature, ensure the undisturbed development of natural processes and the sustainable use of natural resources, the Institution supervises the implementation of conditions and measures for nature protection in the areas it manages and participates in collecting data to monitor the state of nature conservation.

The Natura Histrica Public Institution implements protection measures on a daily basis through activities to monitor the nature, flora and fauna of the protected areas of the Istrian County, in order to preserve biological and landscape diversity and for scientific, cultural, aesthetic, educational, economic and other purposes. In the procedures for nature protection and prevention of further pollution and devastation of the area, the most common problems encountered are illegal construction, waste disposal and habitat destruction.
