purpose

Why are we needed?

Marine ecosystems face numerous threats – from habitat degradation and overfishing to the increasing impacts of climate change. The CroMPA provides a platform for better coordination among marine protected area managers, collaboration with non-governmental organizations, academic institutions and sector agencies, and support in meeting international commitments, such as the target of protecting 30% of the ocean by 2030.

By optimizing resources and mobilizing funding, the network enables the implementation of concrete conservation projects.

MISSION AND VISION

Our mission is to improve the management of marine protected areas in the Adriatic through the exchange of knowledge and best practices among managers, scientists, NGOs, professional associations and other relevant stakeholders. By working together, we work on the protection of marine biodiversity and sustainability, strategic planning for long-term conservation and adaptation of marine ecosystems.

Through education, workshops and project partnerships, we strengthen the capacities of all involved. Our vision is an Adriatic that is healthy, sustainable and full of life – a sea in which ecosystems flourish, and local communities actively participate in their protection.

Our vision is a healthy and sustainable Adriatic, where marine ecosystems flourish, and communities are involved in their protection.
