Dalmatian Islands Environment Foundation

Our guest speaker will be Inga Jurin, Manager of the Foundation. Originally from Zadar, Inga grew up surrounded by the sea and islands, which are now the focus of her professional work. Her work centers on sustainable island development, with a strong emphasis on connecting environmental protection with the needs of local communities. Through her experience in the non-profit sector, she has developed strong skills in project management and the implementation of various initiatives. At the Dalmatian Islands Environment Foundation, she actively supports projects that bring long-term and tangible benefits to island communities. She particularly emphasizes the importance of involving local stakeholders and developing practical, sustainable solutions.
The Dalmatian Islands Environment Foundation (DIEF) works on the protection and enhancement of the natural values, biodiversity, and ecosystems of the Dalmatian islands. By raising funds from individuals and companies connected to Dalmatia, the Foundation supports local initiatives focused on preserving natural resources and promoting sustainable development. Special emphasis is placed on projects that deliver measurable environmental, social, and economic benefits and have the potential for broader application.
During the lecture, the Foundation’s activities will be presented through the following areas:
- biodiversity conservation and protection of natural habitats (marine, terrestrial, and freshwater)
- sustainable management of natural resources and pollution reduction
- development of sustainable and regenerative practices in land use and agriculture
- climate change adaptation and strengthening the resilience of island systems
