On the occasion of the International Biodiversity Day and Nature Protection Day of the Republic of Croatia, the Public Institution “Nature” of Šibenik-Knin County participated in a series of educational and promotional activities aimed at raising awareness of the importance of preserving nature, the sea, and biodiversity.
An educational programme for children was held at the “Kanal Sv. Ante” Visitor Centre through a multimedia exhibition, the Diverterra workshop, and a tour of the exhibition “The Touch of River and Sea.” Through play, exploration, and interactive content, preschool children and students had the opportunity to learn about the richness of plant and animal life and the importance of preserving natural and marine ecosystems.
The programme was further enriched by the celebration of the European Maritime Day in My Country initiative, which additionally highlights the importance of the sea, maritime heritage, and a sustainable relationship with the marine environment, with special emphasis on the conservation of marine protected areas and the biodiversity of the Adriatic Sea.
We would like to thank all visitors who joined us at the “Kanal Sv. Ante” Visitor Centre in marking this important day for nature protection, especially the children from the Smilje Kindergarten – Bambi Branch in Šibenik and the students of Gornja Vežica Primary School from Rijeka.
On the same day, employees of the Public Institution “Nature” of Šibenik-Knin County also participated in the traditional celebration of Nature Protection Day in Maksimir Park in Zagreb, organized by the Public Institution Nature of the City of Zagreb.
Through an educational stand, promotional materials, and workshops for children, visitors were introduced to the institution’s programmes, projects, and activities, together with numerous institutions and organizations from the nature protection sector from across Croatia.
We are particularly pleased that, on this occasion as well, we were able to bring the importance of nature conservation, biodiversity, and marine ecosystems closer to the youngest participants through education, conversation, and shared activities.
